The National Weather Service in Chicago issued an excessive heat warning until Wednesday at 8 p.m. with peak afternoon heat index values of between 106 and 100 degrees. The Chicago Department of Family and Support Services and Cook County Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security have both published maps of public cooling centers where residents can come to escape the heat.  

The Neighborhood Building Owners Alliance of Chicago announced it will host its Summer Soiree at 5 p.m. on Aug. 11 at a location to be announced. Early bird tickets are available before Aug. 1. Online registration is required.
