As of Sunday, the day before in-person early voting was set to begin in all of the 50 wards, 3,955 Chicagoans had cast their ballots early at two downtown sites, according to the Chicago Board of Elections. The number of people who have cast their ballots early and in person is up from the same time during the 2019 municipal election when 1,837 early ballots had been cast 16 days out from Election Day. Also as of Sunday, 37,890 Vote By Mail ballots had been returned to the Chicago Board of Elections, up from the 615 Vote By Mail ballots that had been returned to the Board of Elections 16 days out from Election Day in 2019.
