The Society for Midland Authors will host University of Illinois at Chicago professor Dick Simpson and Mayor Lori Lightfoot at the Harold Washington Library at 6 p.m. Thursday for a discussion on “the future of American democracy.” The event is promoting Simpson’s new book, “Democracy’s Rebirth: The View From Chicago.” The event will be free to the public with no registration required, and it will be livestreamed on YouTube.
