Gov. JB Pritzker issued an updated executive order Monday ending the weekly testing requirement for unvaccinated health care workers and ending the mask requirement in health care facilities and long-term care facilities. The new order falls in line with federal regulations and guidance. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends masking in places with high community transmission of COVID-19. Health care workers and long-term care employees also no longer fall under a vaccine mandate from the state, but federal rules from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services require employees at Medicaid and Medicare-certified facilities to be vaccinated.

A federal judge issued a ruling Monday that blocks a state law passed in the spring prohibiting out-of-state contributions to judicial campaigns and limiting contributions to $500,000 from a single source to a judicial campaign. Plaintiffs sued the state with assistance from the Liberty Justice Center to block the law from taking effect during the 2022 election cycle. The ruling means expenditures in judicial races are no longer capped to $500,000 from a single source and out-of-state funds are permitted. Both Illinois Supreme Court races had self-funding caps removed earlier this year.
