Rep. Marcus Evans (D-Chicago) posted, "I’m proud to stand with the @FoodDepository all of our local food depository and support the incredible work they do every day to fight hunger in our communities. No family should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. That’s why I strongly support continued funding for SNAP—it's a lifeline for working families, seniors, and children across our state. Food security is not a partisan issue—it’s a human one. Let’s keep investing in solutions that ensure everyone has access to nutritious food and the dignity they deserve."

Rep. Jeff Keicher (R-Sycamore) posted, "I've always been an "all of the above" energy proponent and this is one of the reasons why. We will hit cycles where one source is more or less expensive. We've got a future of much higher energy demand...let's get there."

Illinois Farm Bureau posted, "Still thinking about Ag Day at the Capitol. Joining the IL Dept. of Agriculture alongside our members was a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished through civility, collaboration, and a shared commitment to agriculture. Proud to be part of a community that shows up, speaks up, and works together to support our farmers and rural communities."

The Illinois Department of Employment Security announced the state's unemployment rate in January was 4.9 percent, a 0.2 percent increase from December and a 1.3 percent increase from January 2025. The state added 18,000 jobs in January, with the largest increases in construction, manufacturing and trade, transportation and utilities. The December jobs report was revised from an increase of 11,800 to 11,600.

Gov. JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity announced an additional $30 million in funding for the Regional Site Readiness Program, bringing the total to $60 million. The governor and department also announced $25.9 million has been awarded to seven sites across the state.

Attorney General Kwame Raoul and a coalition of attorneys general announced a federal appellate court has upheld a preliminary injunction on changes made by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on the Continuum of Care program. The preliminary injunction and the appellate court's decision means the changes will not go into effect while the case is heard in court.

Raoul also announced that the U.S. Department of Energy has rescinded a policy capping reimbursement for state energy programs after a federal judge ruled on the side of the states in a lawsuit challenging the policy in September. The Department had initially appealed the decision but has now rescinded it.
