Mayor Lori Lightfoot on Wednesday named Kevin Barszcz as the city's director of veteran affairs. Barszcz is a veteran of the US Navy and has more than one decade of experience working with the veteran community, according to a news release from Lightfoot. Barszcz has also served on the Advisory Council of Veteran Affairs and as a Chicago Recovery project manager focusing on supporting homelessness services. “Kevin is an incredible leader who advocates for all veterans and their family members. I am profoundly grateful to have him continue supporting our veteran community as the new Director of Veteran Affairs," Lightfoot said in the news release. "I have made a promise to our veteran community, and I am proud he will continue that promise through serving those who have served within our great city.”
